SAVING OF GERMANY HERR HITLER'S CLAIM EMERGENCE FROM TJiAVAHi 15 YEARS' OPPRESSION By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received February 21, 1.55 a.m.) LONDON, Feb. 20 The anxiously awaited speech by Herr Hitler was delivered in the Kroll Opera House to-day to the members of the Reichstag, says a despatch from Berlin. Points made by the Fuehrer were: — The oppression of the German nation for 15 years and the undue breakdown of the Army and the nation's economic life. But the mentality of Germans was their pride and therefore their liberty.. With the advent of Nazi-ism came the turning point in their history. The delay in convening the Reichstag on its anniversary—January 30 —could be explained by the necessity for making changes in the personnel and for a clarification of the important field of external affairs before the session. "I am not the first to be called to save tho nation,", said Herr Hitler, "but the last. If I had not been made Chancellor there would have been nothing but chaos." Herr Hitler made a lengthy comparison between revolutions and contrasted the Nazis' disciplined, bloodless and dest ructionless revolution with the "massacres" in France, Russia and Spain. There was such a rush in Berlin to transmit the speech to all parts of the world that only driblets at present are reaching London. The speech so far is an emotional survey of Germany's emergence from travail in which "foreign countries have shown no interest or help, but only hatred."
