STRETTO GALLOPS

SOLID ROUND EECOEDED KILONSA'S SEVEN FURLONGS SIR ABB DISPLAYS SPEED A. good half-mile by Sir Abb and a solid round by Stretto showed tho No. 2 track at Ellerslie to be in surprisingly good order on Saturday after the heavy rain that had fallen. Trevaco (McTaviah), after taking 13 2-5s for the first furlong, completed half a mile in 525. Knight of Australia (Clarke) did solid work over a round, being timed the last six furlongs in 1.20 1-5. He is in good order at present. Kilonsa (McTavish), after beginning slowly, ran seven furlongs in 1.33 4-5, the last four in 545. She finished well and looks fit for her Herries Memorial Cup engagement at Te Aroha this week Captain Bruce covered the last seven furlongs of a round in 1.37 3-5, the first half-mile in 55$s. Ho was stopping badly at the finish. Land Girl (McTavish) went fast early to complete six furlongs in 1.18. Billy Boy (Picknell), Neil and Psychologist (Neil) were as named at tho conclusion of a round in 1.59 3-5. Neil finished well and is getting into solid condition for jumping events ahead. The best sprint of the morning was credited to Sir Abb (Tonks), who dashed over half a mile in 49 2,-ss. It is a pity he is affected in the wind, as he is a good galloper. The Versant filly (Markwick) finished slightly in front of the Illumination gelding (McTavish), with Mai de Mer (Tucker) a length away, at the end of four furlongs in 51 4-ss. The Illumination gelding appeared to be doing it nicely. Glen Abb was not troubled to run fivo furlongs in 1.6 3-5. He appears to be becoming more solid. Assisted by Privy Seal (.McTavish) over the last six furlongs in 1.19 3-5, Strctto traversed a round in. 1.44 4-5. Stretto was tiring a little at the end but it was not surprising in view of tho solid pace early. It was a good effort.

Koyal Abb (Green) and Black Polly (Markwick) were timed to complete the 'last three of four furlongs in 40 4-ss. Both were going comfortably at the end. Palmint (Kerr) was going easily throughout five furlongs in 1.9. executed a couple of rounds of strong pace-work on the sand. i Artful Dodger, who is to run in I the Westmere Hack Hurdles, got ! through useful work on the inside i track. He is inclined to grossness, but j works well. J Captain Treville was not extended j over the first .two of seven furlongs, j but in registering lm 37s he was resj ponsiblo for a.pleasing task, the last five furlongs taking lm 3s. He is to run in tho Tayforth Hack Handicap on Thursday. Airing (K. Chote) went very fast over the first two of four furlongs in 24s and ran on well to complete the full distance in 495. His immediate prospects appear bright. All Bunsby and Supler, who are not 'engaged on the first day of the Wanganui meeting, were let off with easv tasks. The first to work after the breakfast interval was Gaily, who was not bustled over four furlongs to register 50 3-os. The first two took 255. The Siegfried mare has topweight, 9.0, in the Petre Hack Handicap on Thursday, but she shapes like a good one and apparently her run of successes may continue.

The first quarter took the pair 26s and they were still together after covering half a mile in 50 4-53, Middle appears to bo in good order for his Wanganui Cup engagement, in which he must be given a chance. Rehearsal and Minga were associated in a flutter over two furlongs, the first fast work they have done since their return to the active brigade. They shaped very pleasingly in registering 24 4-ss.

Lady Hoariri was given easy pace work on tho inside and then, with K. Chote in the saddle, slipped over three furlongs in 37 3-os. Sho is another locally-trained candidate who appreciates easy going. _ • . Golden Pam was given easy pace work with a brush up tho straight, working well within herself. Amatory (K.
