CARRIERS' COMPLAINTS [by TELEGRA£H —own* correspondent] OPOTIIvI, Saturday Tlio opinion was expressed at a mooting of transport operators in the Opotiki district that carriers had legitimate grounds for complaints regarding the state of the highways. It was unanimously decided that n letter be forwarded to the Minister of Transport, tho Hon. B. Scinple, making a strong protest against tho state of the highways, particular mention being made of the East Coast road and tho OpotikiWhakatane main highway. It was considered that operators were receiving a poor return for the high taxation imposed and that maintenance fell far below what shoilld be expected.
