TRADE IN AUCKLAND NEW SEASON'S OATS EASE AUSTRALIAN POLLARD DEARER Finn markets are ruling for the majority of grain' and produce lines in Auckland. There lias been a further rise in quotations for Australian pollard, prices now being about 7s 6d a ton dearer. Onions also are very 'arm on account of a light crop at Pukekohe. The recent shortage of potatoes has been relieved, and supplies from Bangitikei are now plentiful. Holders of new season's oats in the South Island have lowered their limits and local through store prices show a reduction of about 3d.a bushel. Imported stocks are now cleaned up and no further progress has been made with a possible shipment from Java. Stocks in the East ('oast are reported to be fairly plentiful. BARLEY Stocks of Australian barley are meeting with a good inquiry, as this grain is now the cheapest line offering. The market is particularly firm and through store- rates have again been advanced, being about 7s. (>d a .ton dearer than last week, at about £lO 10s a ton, through store. NEW ZEALAND GOODS PROTECTING 1 INDUSTRY I MANUFACTURERS' REQUESTS, Trade relations with Great Britain and' Australia wero discussed at yesterday's meeting of the general coin--1 mittee of the Auckland Manufacturers' Association, when it was decided to request the New Zealand Manufacturers' Federation to ascertain from the Government when the new trade agreemcnt with Australia would become effective; The federation also was asked to press for an early announcement. One member stated that Australian agents were now scouring the country and, in many cases, were offering special inducements to obtain orders before the new scale of duties came intoeffect. They evidently realised, he said, I that the new duties Were bound to | come eventually. Approval of the principle of purchasing from Britain all raw materials for manufacture in New Zealand which were now being obtained from foreign and other sources and which could be conveniently imported from Great Britain was expressed in a resolution moved by Mr. F. N. Ambler after a discussion in committee. It was further decided to urge the Manufacturers' Federation to request the Government to discuss the matter with the British Trade Commissioner on the basis of reciprocal trade with the object of safeguarding the Dominion market for goods manufactured in New Zealand.

STOCK SALES OTOROHANGA SHEEP FAIR The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, reports a large entry at its Otorohanga sheep fair. There was a large attendance of buyers and bidding was brisk, competition being particularly keen on older ewes. Prices realised were in advance of recent Waikato rates.
