DEATH OF CONSTABLE
One of the most popular constables at the Central Police Station, Constable Henry Prestage, aged 43, died early yesterday morning at the Auckland Hospital. He had been messenger at the central station for several years. A native of Ireland, Constable Prestage served five years in the Dublin Police Force before his arrival in New Zealand. He joined the Dominion force in Wellington in 1927, and was transferred to Auckland in 1929. The funeral, which will be held with full police honours, will leave his home, Seaview Terrace, Mount Albert, at two o'clock this afternoon. Approximately 100 constables from the central and suburban stations will attend.
Constable Prestage leaves a widow and one daughter.
