The old house where Sally lived in an alley near the Abbey, was built three or four centuries ago, and is still much the same. Its quaint old bow-window exhibited the tempting hot cakes made of whole wheat flour, for which Sally became famous and which still bear her name. The two rooms which now serve as tea-rooms have ceilings with heavy oak beams, Tudor fireplaces and panelled walls. One <of the bake-ovens is below the street, and there are other cellars beneath it. Under Bath are the remains of the old city, which was enclosed by walls; some of the gates are still intact, and the original paved streets are in an excellent state of preservation with the front doors opening on to them. The Hot Springs continue to supply the medicinal waters as they have done since the Romans discovered them. Although the old Roman Baths are well preserved, most interesting and picturesque, they are no longer used.
