"THE QUILL"

"We progress steadily, hut with humility, without which nothing worth while is attained, in our endeavour to contribute to New Zealand literature." These are the words of Miss Catherine Keddell, president of the New Zealand Women Writers' and Artists' Society, in the foreword of the fourth number of their entertaining magazine, "The Quill." Enclosed in a neat cover designed by Miss Ngata Furlong, this all too slender publication is a decided credit to the society, and provides some very pleasant reading. Although the cover design is the only contribution by-the artist members, there is a wide variety of items presented hv well-known New Zealand women writers. These include two entertaining short stories, an amusing, yet instructive article on story writing. and many delightful gems of poetry. There is also an enjoyable little fragment that should appeal to the garden lovers.
