MILLIONAIRE ROBBED
WIFE'S PERSONAL JEWELLERY
THIEF LEAVES FINGERPRINTS After his wife had seen a strange man drop from a bedroom window on to a flower-bed, Mr. Frank Parkinson, often described as "England's shyest millionaire," joined in a chase through the grounds of his home. Middleton House, Sunningdale, Berkshire, in a vain effort, to catch the intruder.
Valuable personal jewellery belonging to Mrs. Parkinson was stolen.
"Jt was lucky my wife went to her bedroom when she did." stated Mr. Parkinson, "otherwise the thief's haul might have been larger." Police subsequently discovered fingerprints in the bedroom and footprints on the wot ground bordering the house. It is believed the robber had a car waiting for him on the main road. Mr. Parkinson, who is 4'J. is chairman of Crompton, Parkinson, Limited, an English electrical engineering firm. Last* year he gave £'lo,ooo to Leeds University, where; he was educated in the days when it was the Yorkshire College.
