THE CITY MARKETS SUPPLIES OF MUSHROOMS HIGH PRICE OF LETTUCE The demand for apples at the City Markets yesterday was not heavy. Because of the large supplies, pears brought low prices. Though tomatoes were in fair demand, values were also low. Plums, peaches and blackberries sold freely, but the market for hothouse grapes was quiet. There was a keen demand for the large supplies of mushrooms, values varying with condition.'

Potato prices tell to a still lower level than that of last week because of large consignments received from Avondale, Pukekobe, Ohakune and llangitikei. Though the lettuce was of poor quality, very high prices were paid.' Plentiful supplies of cabbage, cauliflower and carrots were available.

The demand for poultry was only fair and prices were practically unchanged, in first grade duck eggs there was a rise of 2d, but no change in the rates for hen eggs. Values were:—
