BRUTAL ATTACK

YOUNG MAN ROBBED SEVERE HEAD WOUNDS

STAGGERED TO HOUSE INCIDENT IN THE CITY Bleeding profusely from severe head injuries, his clothes torn, his artificial teeth missing, and faint from the loss of blood, a labourer, Mr. Douglas Clark Adams, aged 27, of 37 Holly Street. Avondalc, staggered up to a house in Victoria Lane, City, just before eight o'clock on Saturday night and said he had been attacked by two men and robbed.

The police were notified, and after Mr. Adams had been attended by a chemist, Mr. F. J. Cooper, at the corner of Victoria Street and Hobson Street, he was taken in a St. John ambulance to the Auckland Hospital, where his condition last night was reported to be not serious. A young man, Mr. W. Griffin, of 9 Victoria Lane, City, said he had been aroused by a faint knocking on the front door of his home. He discovered Mr. Adams leaning against the building in a weakened condition and covered with blood. The injured man said that he had been assaulted and robbed of his possessions, amounting to a few shillings. , . Mr. Griffin said that he immediately took the victim across the road to the chemist, and on the way found pieces of broken artificial teeth scattered m Victoria Laue, where Mr. Adams stated he had been attacked. The police continued their inquiries yesterday, but no arrest had been made at a late hour last night.
