BUILDING BURNED

FIRE AT HILLSBOROUGH ALARM GIVEN BY MOTORIST Fire, the cause of which is unknown, completely destroyed a wood and iron building occupied by E. Buchanan and Sons, monumental masons, in Hillsborough Road, Mount Albert, opposite the Hillsborough Cemetery, early yesterday morning. Neither the building, materials nor contents were insured, and it is estimated that the damage amounted to about £2OO. The flames were first seen by a motorist, who gave the alarm from a street box. Engines from the Mount Roskill and Onehunga stations attended the fire, which was too far advanced for anything to be saved on the arrival of the brigades. The roof and walls collapsed soon afterward.
