HUTT PARK TROTS

FIELDS FOR TO-DAY SIX IN DOMINION HANDICAP IMPROVERS' RACES FILL, V/ELL THE LIKELY FAVOURITES Tho summer meeting of the Wellington Trotting Club will be concluded at Hutt Park to-day. There are again only half a dozen of the best pacers in the Dominion Handicap, but large fields are due to contest the other events. Telegraphing last evening, "Abaydos" advised that the weather promised to remain fine. Some fresh horses, including King Franz, winner of three races at Nelson, would add interest to the trotting events. King's Play and Graham Direct were expected to fight their Cup duel over again in the Dominion Handicap. The defeat of King's Play was probably due to hard pulling in tho first mile, which he ran in 2.14 4-5, and he should be benefited by the race. Horses who should bo in keen demand included: — Kaitoki Handicap. Mute, Native Huon, Arapai. Woburn Handicap.—Myrtle Oro, Wharrun, Waikari Jack. February Handicap.—Marlene, Zincali, Chili Bean. IMPROVING HORSES HUTT PARK COMPETITORS NAWTON PARRISH FOR SOUTH [BY TELEGRAJPH FROM ABAYDOS] WELLINGTON. Friday Myrtle Oro is improving with racing and her second to Evora in the Probationers' Handicap, in which she ran 2A7 3-5, suggests she will quickly lose her novice status. Jackaranda and Marlene, two finelooking pacers by Jack Potts, were outstanding in their respective classes on Thursday. Both have fine prospects af extending their winning records. Mute was responsible for a splendid effort in being second to Parrish Guide in the Preliminary Trot, and his 3.23 2-5, if repeated, will gain him a higher place. . Parrish Guide,' by Guy Parrish from a Petereta mare, outshone his trotting rivals. R. Town ley's gelding is slow at the start but has rare speed and stamina. In winning the Progressive Trot in 4.36 3-5 he registered 1.6 for the last half. Elissa gave glimpses of her exceptional speed but too many lapses marred her chances. She may settle down as the result of racing. King Franz, the hero of the Nelson meeting, should add further interest to the trotting events to-morrow. Arapai and Fair Voyage are other fresh ones likely ito make matters interesting _ . The Reef ton trotter, Native liuon, ran two, solid races and her finishing effort in the two miles indicated that she ha? prospects of early success. Evora, by Grattan Loyal—Lady • Trafalgar, owned and trained by W. Warren, raced like a useful sort and has prospects in the Eastbourne Handicap ' . Poste Haste, stable-mato to Aide' tie Camp, ran 3.21 1-5 off 3.38 when beaten bv Marlene and he should trouble Jackaranda to-morrow. Zincali, owned by Mr. J. Steel, registered a striking performance in finishing third in the Hutt Handicap, after being a long way back. He went 3.20. , ; Two novices, Wharrun and Kilrea, owned and trained by Mr. B. Grice and driven by .0. E. Hooper, attracted attention by finishing fourth in their respective races. "Wharrun is by Nelson Derby—Logan Lou, and Kilrea, by Jack Potts —Colene Pointer. They should improve. ■ „ Nawtou Parrish,. who won in 3.16 3-5. established a new. winning record for a mite and a-ho If at Hutt Park.-: He is likely to go on to Addington for next week's meeting. Winaway's second in 3.16 showed that she has returned to her best again and in spite of a 12 yards' penalty, she should race well to-morrow. •<

Southern Chief, a fine-looking horse by Wrack—Regina Logata, received minor injuries in transit and was not started yesterday. J. J. Kennerley is hopeful that his charge will be able to race in the An Jtevoir Handicap.

Heather Qlieen ran a sound race for third in the Kia Oya Handicap and lias prospects; while Belle Grattan, after being slowly away, finished strongly in fifth place. " , r -
