BUS DRIVER'S ORDEAL TORTURED BY REMORSE Tortured by the recollections of an accident in which his vehicle knocked down a little girl who died, James Francis Mclnyyre, 45-year-old bus driver, buried at Leigh, Lancashire, had been delirious for five weeks before, he died. His wife stated at the inquest that in his delirium he struggled and fought in his mind to make a superhuman eli'ort to pull up the bus in time to avoid the tiny form which was in its path. The accident, which changed his whole outlook on life ; and which in the end sent him to' his own premature death, happened more than seven months ago, but though ho was exonerated the picture of the most awful moment of his life was for ever before him.

From that time, it was stated, he "never looked up," and it was clear that the shock of the accident had hastened his death.

Mclrityre was held in high esteem by his employers, the Loigh Corporation, and when his coffin was borno to the grave the procession was led by about 60 hus drivers and conductors in uniform . j
