OFFENCE ON STATION
GAOL FOR RAILWAYMAN NAME NOT SUPPRESSED — [by telegraph—own correspondent] DARGAVILLE, Thursday -."We must take into consideration the need for protecting little children and I would not for a minute consider suppressing this man's name, said Mr. G. N. Morris, S.M., in, the Magistrate's Court this morning when Thomas Ronald Lyfcle, a railway ganger, aged 47, of Waiotira, appeared on a charge of committing an indecent act on* the Omana railway station. Accused elected to be dealt with summarily. The charge was laid following complaints made by the parents of a 10-year-old girl. Mr. J. H. Bramwell, who appeared fdr accused, in entering a plea of guilty, asked for the suppression of accused's name in view of the fact that he had previously been a reputable,. citizen and such publicity would jeopardise his employment with the Railway Department. "The only question that I can see ii\ whether he should go to gaol or not," remarked the magistrate. Accused was convicted and sentenced to two months' imprisonment.
