EXCHANGE £978,500 LOWER MOVEMENT OF DEPOSITS PRODUCE ADVANCES UP £530,000 [BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION'] WELLINGTON, Thursday The Reserve Bank return for the week ended Monday, January 31, was gazetted to-night. The statement is balanced at £29,007,084, or £0647 more than at the close of the previous week. The note issue is lower by £55,915 than it was a week before. Government deposits have increased £509,800, a movement largely reflected by a fall of £502,596 in the deposits of the trading banks. Other demand liabilities are £51,626 higher. The sterling exchange reserve shows the substantial fall of £978,538 in valuo. Advances to tho Primary Produce Marketing Department are higher by £530,458, while advances for other purposes, stationary at £900,000 for many weeks, have now increased by £200,000. Tho investment total, which also lias shown no movement for a considerable time, has risen in valuo by £256,328 during the week.
