TRUCK PASSENGER'S DEATH THE CORONER'S VERDICT [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] ROTORUA, Thursday A verdict of accidental death as a result of injuries received in a motor smash on New Year's Eve was returned by the coroner, Mr. W. L. Kichards, at the conclusion of the inquest this afternoon concerning the death in the Potorua Hospital on January 1 of a native named Eru Paramena, of Te Puke, who was-one of a party of seven travelling from Te Puke to Potorua. The driver of the truck, George Dinsdale, of Te Puke, gave evidence that when he was attempting to pass a motor-car the wheels of his truck skidded in the loose pumice dust on the road, causing the rear of the truck to strike the car and then hit tho hank, the truck capsizing. Four nativos who were travelling at the rear of the cab were thrown to the roadway, Eru Paramena being seriously injured about the head.
