OPEN BOAT CLASSES CHAMPION FLAG TO MANU MAHANA DEFEATS SONOMA CLASS M (Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, 18ft restricted class). —First prize, £5, and championship flag presented by Mr. G. M. Dennes; second, £2 10s; third, trophy. A record entry of 11 boats for the M class event attracted unusual interest to the race. 'Mawhiti was first away from Manaia and Manu. TUSSLE BETWEEN SCRATCH BOATS CLASS S (open and half-decked boats, 10ft and under). —First prize, £0; second, £2 10s; third, £1; fourth, trophy presented by Morris, Black and Matheson, Limited. Again a large fleet hampered a free start in the race for S class boats. Several of the craft fouled other competitors in the congestion, while two touched the mark-boat. The two scratch boats, Mahana and Sonoma, provided a strenuous tussle around the course, the former crossing the line first.
