, MAIJKU CLUB'S MEETING RECORD ATTENDANCE VARIED PROGRAMME DECIDED [from our own correspondent], PUKEKOHE, Sunday A record attendance and record entries at the Mauku Athletic Club's 54th annual sports, held yesterday on Mr. R. K. Menibery's property, Patuniahoe, give further evidence of the increasing popularity of sports meetings in the country centres. The attendance was estimated at 1500 people, the gate takings being £Bl. The amount received at the gate last year was £SB. The programme was a large one, embracing running events, chopping competitions, mounted events and dancing competitions. The organisation proved excellent and the programme was carried through in splendid style. The trophies won during the day were presented to the winners by Mr. A. C. A.
