RAIN IN THE CITY
EARLY MORNING FALL HEAVY ELECTRICAL STORM A short but very heavy electrical storm was experienced in Auckland about 2 a.m. yesterday. Only 10 points of rain were recorded by the Herald »augc, but in most of the southern suburbs there was a much heavier fall. In Balmoral rain commenced to fall shortly after midnight and about two o'clock a downpour of '2O minutes' duration was experienced. Thunder and lightning accompanied the rain and in some districts the display of lightning was' almost continuous. Further showers fell about 3.30 a.m. and rain continued until about six o'clock. There was a torrential downpour at Epsom about 7 a.m. The North Shore suburbs escaped lightly, there being only light showers at Northcote and Takapuna.
