BY RAIN " SINGLES AT SYDNEY (Receired January 21, 11.25 p.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 21 Owing to rain in tlio night no play Was possible before luncheon to-day in the singles championship at the bowline carnival on any of the greens, and on some it was not possible to pla.v after luncheon.

On certain preens only one match out of four was played and on others tho bowlers were without opponents, •who assumed that play would bo impossible and failed to appear. Tho New Zcalanders who played and won to-day were:—W. Pomeroy, 21-13; H. Clark, 21—17; H. Brav. 21—17; Dr. Austin, 23—19; It. Carbines, 21—18; J. Proud, 21—16; B. Evans, 23 —18; F, Livingston, 21 —3; iW. Whitakor, 21—13. Tho Now Zcalandors who lost were:— J. Anchor, 16—21; A. Chambers, 17—23; L. Goldiinoh, 16—21; R. Scunervoll, 10 —21; Dr. Whiteside. 18-21; ,W. Uro, 17-21.
