THREE BREACHES OF ACT USE OF ILLEGAL NETTING Charged with three breaches of the Fisheries -Act, Thomas Bray Pcnno appeared in the Magistrate's Court before Mr. C. it. Orr Walker, S.M., yesterday. Defendant pleaded guilty to having under-sized flounders in his possession, and fishing from an unlicensed boat, and not guilty to using a net of less than 4iJin. mesh, and longer than tin l length allowed, 80 fathoms. Mr. Noel Smith, for the Marine Department, said an inspector noticed accused taking flounders in Shoal Bay. and tho fish were found to be less than 9in. long. He was using three nets, of GO fathoms each, joined with ropes. Although there wore spaces between them, they were regarded as one net. Defendant said he was ignorant of the regulation regarding the nets. On the charge of having under-sized fish defendant was fined £3 and costs. On tho other charges, in view of his good record, ho was ordered to pay costs only. /
