Pleading guilty to a charge of stealing five oranges valued at Is 3d, and to a breach of his prohibition order. Edward Charles Cotter, labourer, aged 60, appeared in the Police Court before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., yesterday.

Senior-Sergeant Calwell said accused was seen taking the fruit from the truck of Ah Leung, the complainant, in Cook Street on Tuesday. When accosted by Ah Leung he had five oranges in his possession. Accused, who ivas partly drunk at the time, had many convictions for drunkenness. For tho theft of the oranges a fine of 10s and costs, in default 24 hours' imprisonment, was imposed. For the breach of his ordor accused was fined £l, in default three days' imprisonment.
