SYMPATHY EXPRESSED AUSTRIA AND HUNGARY REFUSAL TO JOIN PACT By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright (Received January 13, 5.5 p.m.^ LONDON. Jan. 13 The Budapest correspondent of the Daily Telegraph says a communique issued after the conference between Italy, Austria and Hungary announces that "Austria and Hungary recognise General Franco's Government and take note of Italy's withdrawal from the League of Nationß. "If the League becomes the ideological bloc Austria and Hungary will re-examine their relations with it. "Austria and Hungary sympathise with the Rome-Berlin-Tokio axis as an important guarantee of peace and agree to combat Communist propaganda in their countries. "Italy and Austria confirm their recognition of Hungary's equality of rights regarding armaments, and all three reaffirm their determination to continue the policy of the Rome protocols."
Austria and Hungary, in spite of Italian pressure, refused to leave the League and join the Anti-Communist Pact.
