MANDALAY SHOWS DASH FISHER AND- KEWPIE'S CREST MAH JONGG TROTS SOUNDLY TRAUAN WORKS UNHOPPLED

Although it was carrying a good deal of top, the dirt track was in good order at Epsom yesterday morning. Useful sprints were recorded by Mandalay 1.6 3-5, Fisher and Kewpie's Crest 1.7 2-5, Kewpie's Triumph 1.8, Kaitawa and Gipsy Light 1.9. The three-year-old trotter, Mali Jongg, pleased with a mile in 2.29. , Fisher (A. Pa ton), Kewpie's Triumph (.T. Gee), and Kewpie's Crest (W. Gee) left the mile and a-half at intervals of one second. Fisher reached the mile in 2.31, and lead at the end in 3.38 2-5. He was free-legged and gave a solid display. Kewpie's Crest completed the mile in 2.29 3-5, and the journey in 3.37. Kewpie's Triumph was not luistled to register 3.138 2-5. Mandalay (D. 0. Jones) after going to the mile in 2.33, put in a fast run to finish the mile and a-half in 3.39 3-5. She has recovered from the injury received when racing at Hamilton. Hillcrest's Two Miles Two miles unhoppled in 4.53 was the portion of Hillcrest (D. O. Jones). Hillcrest is still growing but he promises to be well forward for tho Great Northern Derby. Blue Crest (J. Gee) was given an easv mile and a-half, with a furlong
sprint. . Gipsy Light (G. Cole) stepped a mile and. a-quarter in 3.4. She has prospects of an early success. ' Manna's Son (N. L. Craig) acted as taskmaster to the three-year-old Don Walla (N. Cunningham) over an easy ten furlongs, and then worked a strong mile and a-half. Manna's Son took no harm from recent racing. Don -Walla is a son of Walla Walla. Noble Prince (J. Bryce, jun.) was given sound work in saddle. He should be improved when next .started. Three-Year-Old Trotters Mali Jongg (A. Bryce) started behind Braemar (A. Bryce, jun.) from the mile and a-quarter, but after going a little over a mile, the leader broke and Mali .Tongg won, trotting the last mile in 2.29 and the final half in 1.13. ' Golden Wattle (D. 0. Jones) trotted a mile and a-quarter, the last quarter in 365. The younger sister to Mandalay is a well-balanced filly and shows much promise. Dick Redward (A. Patton) trotted two miles, the last in 2.35, maiking no mistakes. Kaitawa (W. Gee) after going the first mile in 2.39 completed a mile and a-half in 3.39. Lady Musk (G. H. Phipps) trotted two miles and is making progress. At one time she was inclined to pace at the start, but is losing the habit., ' •• Sand Track Tasks Audo 'Patch (C. G. Lee) trotted two miles, the last six furlongs showing a 2.30 gait. Parrish Belle, who was recently physicked, had an easy task. Forest Jewel (L. Mitchell) worked two miles, the last at a 2.35 rate. Autumn Lu (G. H. Stubbsj and Worthy Quest (J. Peters) were associated in a sound .mile and. a-half, the final half together in 1.14. , Last (L. J. Mahoney)
worked two miles usefully, the lasf in 2.35. :
Mahoney has again taken Silver Watch in hand and the grey, who is very robust, was given strong work alongside Vanora. Trauan (C. G. Lee) was not hoppled, but went, pleasingly over a mile and' a-half. The three-year-old took no harm from his trip to Cambridge. A. - Bryce gave Marcus and Jyju McElwyn useful tasks. , ; Star Pronto (B. Dyer) revelled in a steady two miles. He is gradually assuming racing shape and should be well forward for the Otehuhu Handicap, which he won last February.
