fTHE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE MODERATE BUSINESS Investors, have not yet commenced operating to any great extent after the holiday-.period, and business was conse- ■ qiipntlv rather quiet on the Auckland Stock Kxchange yesterday. Nevertheless, the tone of the investment market was -firm. Gift-edged securities attracted a great deal of attention, and both Government, loans and local body debentures changed hands freely. Values for the Joans were stronger. In banks continued support for New Zealands resulted in iv transfer at an advance. Commercials of Australia, however, eased a shade. Loading insurances were steady. Breweries were more active and Tooths recorded a substantial advance. New Zealands were unaltered. Following the dividend announcement, Electrolytic Zincs strengthened, and both issues made considerable gains, with solid support at the close. Other metal issues wore Jirm. The remainder of the miscellaneous group was dull. Farmers' Fertilizers lost some ground.
