ROYAL WEDDING

GREEK CROWN PRINCE THE CAPITAL EN FETE PROCESSION IN CITY

CATHEDRAL CEREMONY By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright (Received January 10, 5.5 p.m.) ATHENS, Jan. 9 A salvo of guns fired from the battery at Lykabettos announced the wedding day of the Crown Prince Paul of Greece and Princess Frederika of Hanover, great granddaughter of Queen Victoria. Crowds of people early in the morning filled the squares in the centre of the city.

The firing of guns announced the departure of the bridal procession from the Royal Palace at 9 a.m. for the Metropolitan Cathedral. Twenty coaches, carried the Royal guests.

The procession passed through streets lined by troops. The bride presented a lovely picture as she drove with her father in the State coach, preceded and followed by cavalry.

The Archbishop of Athens performed the ceremony with the imposing ritual of the Orthodox Church. The three best men were Crown Prince Michael of Rumania, and Prince Peter and Prince Philip of Greece. They held the nuptial crowns of flowers over the heads of the bride and bridegroom while the words of the marriage service were said.

The bridesmaids were Princess Catherine of Greece, who is Prince Paul's youngest sister, Princess Eugenie, who is his cousin, and Princess Herseleide of Prussia.

Princess Frederika's wedding gown was of simple cut, the material being shimmering silver lame with full-length sleeves. She had an 18ft. train. The procession returned to the Palace, where a Protestant service was performed by a German minister. The Greek Government is issuing postage stamps bearing the portraits of the Crown Prince and his bride, and granting an amnesty to first offenders undergoing six months' imprisonment or less.
