HEATED SCENES

EGYPTIAN CHAMBER NAHAS CAUSES UPROAR DEFIANCE OF, PRESIDENT NOISY DEMONSTRATION By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright CAIRO. Jan. 3 Uproar occurred in the Egyptian Parliament to-day when deputies shouted down the secretary deputed to read the King's prorogation decree in the absence of Ministers. The dismissed Prime Minister, Nahas Pasha, whom the president refused permission to make a speech, remained on his feet declaiming his determination to speak in the name of the Fatherland. Pandemonium ensued and the president ordered the clearing of the press and public galleries. Unable to restore decorum, the Speaker ordered the lights to be turned out. In spite of this, Nahas Pasha lit matches to enable him to read a motion of no-confidence, which his supporters declared carried.

The deputies continued to shout in the darkness, but the demonstrators eventually withdrew to attend a Wafd (Nationalist Party) meeting.

No progress was made with the business, so Parliament has not yet been officially adjourned. The Senate, with three dissentients, passed a motion expressing dissatisfaction with the present Cabinet and asking the King to reconsider the situation. The Wafd meeting later decided to expel the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Ahmed Maher, from the party. It is understood that further expulsions will be effected to-morrow. NO DICTATORSHIP GOVERNMENT'S POLICY NEWSPAPERS SUPPRESSED BUCHAREST, Jan. 3 A Government broadcast to-day announced that M. Goga's new Ministry will strictly respect the Constitution. This is regarded as an indication of the intention not to introduce a Fascist dictatorship. New measures include the suppression of four more newspapers, also the control of theatres and cinemas to prevent subversive entertainments.

King Carol has gone to the Carpathian Mountains on a hunting trip. A message from Berlin says an official denial is given to a statement that the Nazi Ambassador to London, Herr von Ribbentrop, will come to Bucharest to see King Carol.
