HAIRDRESSERS BUSY
SEA BATHING AND SUN
PERMANENT WAVES SUFFER RUSH AFTER HOLIDAYS
Ocean waves and permanent waves do not harmonise, judging by the number of women who have made appointments at Auckland beauty salons to have the damage done to their hair by sea-bathing repaired. The coiffures arranged for Christmas have suffered from the effects of the salt water and sun, and hairdressers are now busy resetting waves and shampooing. One salon reported that it had been exceptionally busy between Christmas and Now Year, and was now ■ fully booked for a week, while others were much busier than they were after the holidays last year. In several cases it was noticed that the rush of holiday appointments began in November, instead of just a fortnight before Christmas.
The manager of one, largo city establishment found business disappointing compared with last year, particularly in regard to appointments with visitors, but others experienced a steady stream of clients, although there were no more than last year. There were 214 hairdressing salons for ladies in the Auckland district, said one expert with many years' experience in the city, and there should bo no trouble in making appointments.
