FASHIONS AT ELLERSLIE lighter materials worn A BRIGHT NOTE OF COLOUR - Perfect weather again prevailed for the second day of the Auckland facing Club's summer meeting at Ellerslie yesterday. Frocks were of even lighter materials than those worn on the first day, georgette, chiffon and other such gossamer silks appearing in gowns of charming colour and design. The wide-brimmed—but not the drooping—hat was again very popular and looked most attractive when worn with trim silk suits or frocks in gaily patterned designs. ' Many of the racegoers again protected 'their eyes from the glare of the sun with sun-glasses, and care had even been taken in the choice of these, the lenses or rims in almost every case having been selected to match the chief |Bolour note of the frock worn. Their Excellencies, the GovernoriQeneral, Viscount Galway and Viscountess Galway attended the meeting, Her Excellency wearing a frock of cherry and white floral striped crepo •de chine with a cherry shoulder spray, and a white straw picture liat. With her was Mrs. Arthur Purvis, who was wearing a black floral-patterned silk frock and an .opal pink straw hat. The official host and hostess were Dr. [i.
