TRAVEL CLUB

ENJOYABLE MORNING TEA

A most enjoyable time wns spent by' members of the Auckland Travel Club yesterday when they held their weekly morning tea in the Milne and Choyco Reception Hall. The speaker was the new Australian Trade Commissioner, Mr. C. E. Critchley, who gave an address on the Dutch East Indies, where he represented Australia during the past two-and-a-half years. He was introduced by the retiring assistant Australian Trade Commissioner, Mr. James Payne.

During the morning, songs were given by Miss Judy Aickin and Mr. Philip Jay. They were accompanied by Miss Isobel McKinnon. Pianoforte solos were contributed by Colin Horsey, the 17-year-old Wanganui pianist. The chairman for the morning, Mrs. H. T. Merritt, thanked the artists and presented Miss Aickin with a shoulder spray of pink carnations. Mrs. Casement Aickin was also present with MisS Judy Aickin at the tea. Among the overseas and out-of-town guests wore: —Mrs. A. G. Fludder (Sydney), Mr, and Mrs. A. H. Shannon (Ireland), Mrs. Bunting, Mr. and Mrs. Gregg, Mr. H. Howard Butler and Mr. Victor Wilson (England); Mr. Paul Schramm (Vienna), Mrs. Trousdale and Miss Norma MeCallum (Vancouver), Mrs. B. Perrin (South Africa), Mrs. Magill and Miss E. Martin (Wellington), Mrs. It. B. Horsley* (Wanganui), Mrs. Philip Braham and Miss B. Brewin (Otago), Mrs. Charles (Morrinsville).
