SAVAGE ATTACK
WOMAN • SEVERELY INJURED YOUNG FARM HAND ARRESTED [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] DANNEVIRKE,' Wednesday As a result of a savage attack mads on her ? yesterday, Mrs. G. France, wife of a Matamau settler, is 'in hospital with severe scalp injuries and.two boaes in the left hand fractured. While • bending down in her garden Mrs. France was struck heavily on,the head with a piece of pinus insignus about 2ft. long, and it is stated that she was held down and struck further heavy blows. Mrs. Fx'ance, who was alone at tfio time, states that she frightened her assailant away and then telephone for a doctor, who informed the policeSubsequently the police arrested Maxwell Taylor, aged 18, who was employed on the farm, on a charge of having assaulted Mrs France, causing actua bodily harm. Taylor appeared in W Magistrate's Court this morning and was remanded.
