BETS ON TE RAPA RACES PREMISES IN THE CITY •- ■———* ' Charged with carrying the business of a bookmaker, Samuel Gould pleaded guilty when he appeared on summons in the Police Court, before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M!., yesterday.
Detective-Sergeant Walsh said that as a result of complaints, Detective Moore visited a room in Gladstone Buildings on November 20. Tho accused admitted that ho had been taking bets there for about three weeks. That day he had taken 15 bets, of 2s 6d and ss, on the Te Papa races. There was a telephone in the room. Accused had no previous convictions under tho Gaming Act. *A fina of £2O, with costs, was imposed, seven days being allowed to pay.
