AMBULANCE NURSES

PICNIC AT TITIRANGI Although the ambulance and nursing divisions of the St. John Ambulance Brigade will be called upon throughout the summer for the performance of public duty, parades and examinations are now finished for this year. For the nursing divisions, the last parade took tho form of a picnic on Saturday. At the invitation of the lady corps superintendent, Mrs. G. S. Cammell, they all met at her summer cottage, Tho Crest, in tho Titirangi ranges, both cottage and grounds being thrown open to the guests. The garden, with its well-kept flower beds and gay shrubs, provided many cosy arbours and shady nooks in which to rest and lunch. The guests were received by Mr. and Mrs. Cammell, assisted by Mr. and Mrs. Allan Cammell. The new highway, which already extends some miles beyond the Crest, proved a source of interest to all, and treasure hunts were arranged along this route. The winners were Mrs. Crawford, Mrs. Dickie and Mr. Crawford. A quoits match for district and corps officers of the ambulance divisions was won by Corps-Officer A. Cannell. As in previous years, the adjacent grounds of Mr. and j\lrs. A. Pascoc's home were also open to the guests, tho cool fern groves making pleasant shelter from the heat. Among the. guests were the commissioner for the Auckland district, Mr. C. J. Tunks, and District Officer U. Hitchon. Miss English, .a member of the St. John Ambulance Brigade in Sydney, was also present. She had just returned from England, after attending the jubilee celebrations of the St. John Ambulance Brigade, and was ablo to give an interesting account of this function.
