TEMPERANCE WORK
The annua] meeting of the Remuera branch of the Women's Christian Temperance Union was held recently. Mrs. G. Robinson presided. The report of the year's activities was presented bv Sister Grace, and Mrs. Ready read the balance sheet. An account of P eace work was given by Mrs. Hunter, and the district vice-president, Mrs. Williams, gave a short account of cradle roll activities. It was decided to send a telegram to the Prime Minister,' Mr. Savage, stating that the branch strongly supported the recommendation of a graM jury in Wellington for the prohibition of liquor from all dance halls and a<s° drinking in motor-cars by those, attending dance halls," The following officers wore elected:— President, Mrs, H. Kasper; v:ce " presidents. Mrs. G. Robinson and-InS-Phillips; treasurer, Mrs. evangelistic superintendent. Mrs. Hanburton; cradle roll superintendent, Miss Bond, assisted by Miss French; superintendent, Mrs. Hunter; pianist, Mrs. Cardwell.
