AUCKLAND RETURNS GENERAL INCREASE SHOWN GROWING SALES T&X TOTAL FIGURES FOR NOVEMBER All-round increases occurred last month in revenue collected by the Customs Department at Auckland, compared with the totals for November last year. The total revenue was also substantially in excess of that received in October this 3 - ear. Customs duty collected in November totalled £312,207, against £301.220 in November last year, which at that time was the highest for any one month since before 1930, and £268,549 in October this year. REVENUE AT WELLINGTON SUBSTANTIAL INCREASES SHOWN [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION 3 WELLINGTON, Tuesday Customs revenue collected in "Wellington continues very buoyant, and substantial increases are shown under all heads in the November figures. Sales tax for the third month in succession is easily a record figure. The customs figure is the second highest ever recorded at Wellington, having been exceeded only by the September total this' year. Collections from all sources during the month totalled £549,143 t compared with £492,802 in November, 1936, an increase of £'56,341. The net customs, revenue collected in Wellington for the month totalled £365,085, compared with £338,390 in November, 1936, an increase of £26,695. The November figure of 1936 broko all previous records. but to such an extent have imports continued on the up grade that this figure has been exceeded on no fewer than four occasions this year. For the 11 months of the current year the.revenue totals £3,506,572, compared with £3,013,591 for the corresponding period of 1936, an increase of £492,981. The month's figures, with those for November, 1936, in parentheses, are as follows: —Motor spirit duty, £79,806 (£66,123); tyre tax, £2737 (£1719); sales tax, £124.978 (£105,912); beer excise, £8460 (£7110).
