CRICKET CONTROL

s FIXTURES ALTERED : ' • ' • JtoNE-DAY SERIES ARRANGED ~. jr " SWELCOME TO NEW ZEALANDERS • . % § In view of the fact that only three remain for play prior to the • Christmas vacation, the suggestion was by the chairman. Mr. W. S-. Fee, at last evening's meeting of the inan"agement committee of the Auckland Cricket-' Association that a cne-day of games should be played next 'Saturday and a two-day series on December 11 and 18. 1 2!. The chairman stated that whilo he was ■ not in favour of too many one-day games being stajred, he had been asked by a number of supporters of the same when the association intended to hold n ono-day series. This 'seemed to indicate that there was a public .[demand/ for a series of one-day games and he thought that an effort should be made meet it. Mr. Fee also proposed that the opportunity should be taken on Saturday during the afternoon tea adjournment at Eden Park of extending an official welcome to the Auckland of the New Zealand team which returned recently. He said that the afternoon tea adjournment conld be lengthened slightly to permit of tho welcoming •ceremony. The c6mmttteo approved of both suggestions, and the hours of piny for, all senior and senior B games at Eden Park were fixed as fpllovrs:—-1.30 p.m. to 3.45 p.m.; 4.15 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. The hours of play for games at Devonport and all senior B fixtures, excluding the one at Eden Park, were decided -on as follows:—l.4s p.m. to 4 p.m.; 4.15 p.m. to 0.30 p.m. The times for the, second and intermediate grades, which >,wUl also play one-day games, are as fol- ' lows: 2 ?p.m. to 4.10 p.m.; 4.20 p.m. to ;'6.30 p.m. " '< The committee agreed that in futuro all " games at Papatoetoe should start 15 minutes .after the arrival of the bus carrying players from the city. The transfer of E. E. Hannam from the Grafton to the Parnell Club was approve^. A protest was received from the Ponsonby Club regarding the stale of its practico wickets at Eden Park. It was resolved to • forward a copy of the letter to the Eden Park Board of Control. The Y.M.C.A. Club intimated that it was endeavouring to arrange for the Auckland members of the New Zealand team to_ attend a gathering of cricketers and give hints on the game, and it asked for the association s co-operation. . . .. Pleasure was expressed by members at_ the report received from the junior committee that Mr.'E. J. Price had been appointed to manage the Auckland junior representative team on its southern tour. £ FIXTURES' FOR SATURDAY < ' ' The following' fixtures were'arranged for 6aturday:— „ , « .
