ADVENTURE BOUND

AVIATION IN ENGLAND YOUNG NEW ZEALANDERS SAIL Adventure-bound, two young men left by the Awatea on Saturday evening for Sydney, en route to England, where they hope to achieve their ideals in aviation. They are Mr. J. D. McKenzie, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. T. McKenzie, of Lower Riccarton, Christchurch. and Mr. C.' A. Philpott, only son of Mr. and Airs. A. C. Philpott, Seatoun Heights, Wellington, and in the next two years they will work in the different departments of famous English aeroplane factories, study the technique of production of various types of aircraft, and at Croydon aerodrome acquire a working knowledge of service organisation. Mr. McKenzie is 23 years of age and Mr. Philpott is 24, and their interest in flying goes back to their schoolboy years, when anything which smacked of flying—model aeroplane construction, internal , combusion engines, aerial displays, and airmen—absorbed all their spare time. Their objectives are the securing of their commercial- pilot certificates and their "B" and certificates for ground engineers.
