ABYSSINIAN REFUGEES

ABOUT 6000 IN KENYA PERMANENCE NOT POSSIBLE British Wireless RUGBY. Nov. 3 About 6000 Abyssinian refugees, including many women and children, the majority of whom travelled long distances and suffered severe hardship, are now in Kenya. This information was given in Parliament, in answer to a question by the Colonial Secretary, Mr. "W. OrmsbyGore, who paid a tribute to the humanitarian work of the Kenya authorities under difficult conditions in rendering medical and other, aid to refugees. Mr. Ormsbv-Gore said there was no foundation whatever for the suggestion that the Government of Kenya took action to invite these refugees to the colony. He added: — "I -may mention that, owing to the situation of the camp at Isiolo, the refugees concentrated there are not in a position to engage in any antiItalian activities, even if they wished to do so. "I cannot say what the. future oi the refugees will be. but they cannot be accommodated in Kenya, where it will be impossible for them to maintain themselves.' 1
