STOCK SALES

WESTFIELD QUOTATIONS

VALUES GENERALLY LOWER

EFFECT OF DRY WEATHER

The demand, for dairy cattle slackened at the Westfiekl weekly stock salo yesterday and values receded over all sections. Tho yarding, which was a shado below average, did not contain many good quality cattle. The demand even for the better grade lines was indifferent, however, and a number of pons was passed on failing to make reservo figures. The return of dry conditions was stated to be responsible for the slackness, as most buyers are playing safe with the pastures to ensure sufficient feed in the event of there being inadequate rainfall. Tho top price yesterday was £8 for Jersey cows, while heifers of the same breed r.iudo up to £7. The store section was not so adversely afi'ccted, but values also showed a decline.
