REDUCTION in turnover

There was a sharp reduction in turnover compared with previous days on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. The tone in the investment market was cen< ) ally uncertain and hesitant. Losses and gains were about evenly spread. Xo business was done in banks and insurances, where levels were practically stationary. Coal shares attracted a fair amount ol" attention and Pukeniiros rose slightly, in breweries Toot lis improved. Metal issues lost further ground. Broken Hill Proprietary wore freely traded on a falling market, while offers for Electrolytic Zincs wore withdrawn nt the close. G. .1. Coles also showed weakness lato in the day. New Auckland Laundry were lifted on side, after which quotations were withdrawn. Dominion issues generally were about steady.
