NORTHERN WAIROA CLUB CLOSING DAY COMPETITIONS [BY TKI.KGRAI'H —OWN" CORRESPONDENT] DARGAVILLE, Thursday A year of notable protrress has been recorded by the Northern Wairoa Golf Club, which has officially closed for the season. Much improvement work has been carried out on the course and next year promises to be the most successful in the history of the club. The final of the Stableford bogey was won by L. G. W. Davidson with a score of 'JO. and in another closing day competition a double success was attained by J. D. Hosking, who putted extremely well to return a score of JO, two under par, and who also approached well to win tho play-off with G. Francis after 10 players had originally tied. The long-driving contest was won by R. V. Burton, with J. Pengelly second. CAMBRIDGE LADIES' RECORD [FROM OCR OWN CORRESPONDENT] CAMBRIDGE, Thursday The official gross record of the Cambridge Ladies' Golf Club was lowered by Mrs. I\. Broune during the October bogey match. Her gross score for the round was 70, and she finished l up on bogey. Mrs Iv L. Wilkinson's trophies were won by Miss E. Robinson (senior) and Mrs, A. Nolan (junior). RUGBY LEAGUE TOUR SUCCESS OF KANGAROOS CLOSE MATCH AGAINST WIGAN LONDON, Nov. 3 The Kangaroos defeated Wigan by 25 points to 2;3 after "Wigan had led at half-time by 10 points to S. The game was played at a terrific pace, with passing from one end of the field to the other.
