ANNUAL DINNER HELD JUBILEE ! CLUB'S FUNCTION TROPHY FOR COMPETITION The first, annual dinner of the Jubilee Rowing C lub for blind oarsmen was hold at the Station Hotel last evening. Sir Clutha Mackenzie presided. The Mayor of Auckland, Sir Ernest Davis, who was host, intimated that he would present a .trophy for competition among the clubs' oarsmen. Sir Clutha thanked Sir Ernest and congratulated him on his recent appointment as president of the New Zealand Amateur Mowing Association. In proposing the tonst of the Auckland Rowing Association, Mr: L. Phillips snid that the association had always maintained splendid sportsmanship with all other branches of sport. In his opinion oarsmen had kept up the traditions of the sea and they owed much to the men who had given their time in the interests of rowing. Mr. C. C. Cairns, chairman of the Auckland Rowing 1 Association executive, in reply referred to the help given tho Jubilee Club by tho other clubs, especially Waitemata, before the club built its boat house. iho tonst of the Jubilee Rowing Club was proposed by Mr. A. Doull and replied to by Mr. 1). McPhee. Mr, A, C. Norden, delegato of the Auckland Association to tho New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association, said that the New Zealand Council keenly desired to know more about the Jubilee Club's activities. It was tho intention of tho council's chairman and secretary when in Auckland to visit tho club. CONTESTS FOR TO-MORROW Trial racing programmes will be carried out by two rowing clubs 011 the Auckland llarbonr to-morrow afternoon. The Auckland Club, which opened its season last Saturday, will commence competitive activity with trial fours for the Henderson Cup. The event, will be contested on thc'Tamaki Drive course. , Judging by the form shown last week interesting racing should be witnessed at \\ aiteniata, which will row for trophies donated by Mr. It, Wright. There will be 110 trials at West End 011 account of tho tides.
