ALL BLACKS' TOUR
Sir, —The report of the South Auckland Hug by Union meeting in Thursday's Herald gives an unfortunate version of my statement with reference to the cancellation of the visit of the All Blacks to Australia. The resolution urged the Auckland Union to oppose this policy as we believed it to he detrimental to the best interests of Dominion Rugby, and in my opinion it was only "adding tragedy to tragedy," not "adding to the tragedy of defeat by the Springboks." I am of the opinion that the success of the Springboks was probably a very wholesome thing for New Zealand Rugby. On the other hand, I am not alone in thinking that there were errors in policy and method in the past season, which, to ardent supporters of our national pastime, were nothing short of tragic. The intention to concentrate on club football is not likely to solve problems that probably have their root in the administrative rather than the playing side of the game.
Howard H. Jeffreys,
