SUSTENANCE FRAUDS TIMARU LABOURER'S OFFENCES [BY TEIiKGRAPH—I'HKSS ASSOCIATION*] TIMARU, Thursday In the Timaru Magistrate's Court, Martin Lopez, described as a labourer, was fined £IOO on four charges of obtaining employment benefits for himself by making falso statements. . Ho was given a month in which to pay. "If the charge had been laid under the Justices of the Pe.lce Act and tried as false prestences," said the magistrate, "1 would, in an endeavour to check this crime, have imposed imprisonment."
