ACTIVITIES OF LODGES UNITED CONFERENCE ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION The Auckland United Friendly Societies' conference was held recentlv, the president, Bro. T. Battersby, being in the chair. The attendance was the laige.it for some considerable time, practically all societies being represented. Bro. Walsh, of the H.A.C.8.5., was elected auditor in place of the late Bro. C . Y\ estphal. Kennedy, who is paying a visit to England find who gave somo interesting information of tho Druids' activities in the (lid Country. Bro. Bvgrave and Bro. Smethurst, the Lodge's delegates to tho recent Druids' conference at Hamilton, gave their roports. A committee was set up to arrange a special programme for installation night, to which sister orders are to bo invited. After the business had been dealt with supper was served and some enjoyable games of cards played.

The youthf.il Enterprise Juvenile Temple, 1.0.G.T.. held its weekly meeting, the Chief Templar, Sister Jean Hardwick, presiding. The wain business of tho evening was the elcction_of officers for the new term. The results were as follows:—Chief Templar, Bro. E. Wood; V.T., Sister M.yra Dean; secretary, Sister' D. Grant; chaplain, Sister Joyce Willey; financial secretary, Sister June Wood; president, Sister Edio Chambers; marshal, Sister Neon Hewitt; deputy marshal, Sister Betty Vidak; guard, Bro. F. Hardwicke; sentinel, Bro. T. Chambers; assistant secretary, Sister G. Face; registrar, Bro. Alf Hardwicke; P.C.T., Sister Jean Hardwicke.

The Loyal Jubilee Lodge, M.TJ., 1.0.0. F., had a large attendance at its meeting at Paeroa, Bro. 1L Stephens, N.G., presiding. A welcome was extended to an old member of the Lodge, Bro. Knight. The nominations of officers for the next term were then taken. After the routine business had been transacted, the Past Grand's Lodge took charge of the proceedings. Visitors were welcomed from Karangahake, Waihi and Morrinsville P.G.'s. A number of degrees were conferred, the ritual charges being under the direction of the president, Bro. Bowie (Hot Springs Lodge), the vice-president, Bro. Davis (Morrinsville), and the immediate past president, Sister Davis (Morrinsville). Bro. Smith and Bio. Scott, P.D.G.M., acted as conductors. The degrees conferred were: —Elective secretaries, 15; noble grands, 12; purple, 10. At the conclusion of the ceremony tho group officer, Bro. Bates, thanked the visitors and congratulated them upon their work. The remainder of the evening was spent in dancing.

The Foresters' Hall, Onehunga, presented an animated scene when the Light of Manukau Lodge, U.A.0.D., Celebrated its 27th anniversary. About 250 members and visitors were in attendance, the latter including representatives of kindred societies and members from nearly all the Druids' lodges in Auckland. " Bro. W. J. Gregory, junior Past Grand President, Bro. A. E. Pavis, District President No. 23 District, and Bro. AY. Caddy, District President No. 6 District, represented the Grand Lodge of the North Island. The chair was taken by Past Arch Bro. W. Large. Bro. Johnston, P.A., proposed the toast of "Grand Lodge," Bro. Gregory replying. The secretary, Bro. H. Wells, proposed the toast of the "Foundation Members," six of whom were present. Two of these, P.D.P. Bro. "Wesley Martin and Past Secretary Bro. T. Ashe, responded. The D.P.. Bro. Pavis, in proposing ■'he toast of the "Light of Manukau Lodge," congratulated the members upon the growth and progress of the lodge. The Arch Druid, Bro. C. Beswick. replied. In proposing a toast to the visitors. P.A. Bro. Robinson gave a special welcome to the Pukekohe members, who were present in good numbers. Suitable replies and birthday greetings were given from the visitors. A programme of items was given by Mr. 0. Recs' concert party. The supper arrangements were in the hands of P.D.P. Bro. G. Stone, P.A. Bro. J. Haskell and P.A. 13ro. Large.

There was a largo attendance of members of Loyal Orange Lodge, Dreadnought, No. 88, at the lodge room. Onehunga, on the occasion of the installation of officers. There was also a large attendance of visitors, representing lodges from as far as Wliansjarei and Hamilton. The installation was carried out by Wor. Bro. W. H. Havward, district master, assisted by the officers of No. 2 District Lodge. Wor. Bro. L P. Crook, P.D.M., delivered the charge to the n£wly-installed W.M., Bro. J. H. Nelson. Members of Lodge Star of Piako met recently, Sister M. Simpson. A.D.. presiding. One new member was initiated and several prospective members were proposed. The social portion of the evening was made enjoyable by the attendance of the Morrinsville Mouthorgan Band, which played several selections. Songs were contributed by Bro. A Nivon, Mr. J. Donovan and Sister M. Knnis; fugel horn solos by Mr. O. Redshaw. jun.; mouthorgan duets by Bro. A. Nixon nad Mr. Redshaw; Irish jirr and Highland tling by Bro. H. Munro; recitation by Bro. A. V. Aliatt; instrumental item bv Mr. S. Tew; and community singing was led by Bro. E. C. Ennis on his accordeon.
