HELPERS ENTERTAINED J ; adies who h«i< 1 assisted the Birkenhead lire brigade throughout the year in its activities were entertained at a social in the returned soldiers' hall. Those present were welcomed by Superintendent H. \\ iI kins. The Birkenhead Fire Board was represented by .Messrs. A. Hadfield (chairman), F. .1. Osborne, G. 15. Hewson, H. A. B. Brabant and H. Kemp (secretarv); the Devonpnrt tiro brigade by Superintendent H. F. Follas, Firemen Henmiingway and (,'olley; and the Nortlieote (ire brigade by Superintendent W. P. Roberts, Deputy-Foreman W. F. Ward, Firemen' J. L. N. Andrews and W. G. Whitconibe. Service honours were presented by the Mayoress of Birkenhead, Mrs. K.

J. Osborne. An euiovable programme included songs bv Mrs. I?. Davie*, humorous songs by Mr. W. P. Roberts, tap dances bv 'Air.' Mannigan. and monologues by Mr. S. Mills. Several competitions wer.i also held. The dance musio was played by Fireman Stanley Mills. The floor arrangements were in charge of DeputySuperintendent W. A. Roberts.
