STATE CONTROL URGED BAPTIST UNION'S RESOLUTION [by telegraph—own correspondent] CHRISTCHUKCH, Friday The private manufacture of munitions was condemned by members of the New Zealand Baptist Union Assembly today when a resolution was passed urging the Government "to uso all its influence to abolish within the British Commonwealth of Nations the private manufacture of and trade in munitions of war; where the manufacture of munitions for defence is deemed necessary, such preparation be made by the Government." The Bev. J. Laird, who moved the resolution, said wars were made by munition manufacturers and moneylenders. " The League of Nations is now being used by the munition manufacturers and moneylenders in an attempt to make war," he declared.
