RHEIMS CATHEDRAL
RESTORATION COMPLETED REOPENED FOR WORSHIP KHEIMS, Oct. IS The Rheiins Cathedral, after 23 years' interruption owing to having been damaged by the Germans during tho war, has now been completely restored. It ■was reopened for public worship to-day with a seven-hours' ceremony. Cardinal Suhard, Archbishop of Rhcims, who was tho celebrant, explained that, in spite of the fact that the Cathedral has existed since the fifteenth century and that .25 French Kings have been crowned there, it has never been consecrated. This ceremony, which was overlooked in ancient times, was being arranged when the Great War broke out. Altogether 287 shells directly hit the Cathedral, the first being on September 4, 1914, and the last on September 17, 1918.
