THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE metal issues firmer Xo improvement was shown in values in the investment market on the Auckland Stock Exchange yestorday. Business-was fair and covered u wide range, but losses far outnumbered gains, which were shown only in several isolated oases. Continued weakness in banks was reilected by a transfer of New South Wales at a decline of 7s 6d. New Zealands again sold well at late rates, but offers later weakened. Insurances were a shade weaker. Issues in the classified groups were easier. Auckland Gas contributing dropped slightly/ while LeylandO'Briens also were exchanged cheaper. In breweries, Dominions continued to decline. / , Metals were firmer. Broken Hill Proprietary advanced slightly, with levels ruling strong at tho close. Australian Iron and Steel, preference, showed a substantial rise. Although Electrolytic Zincs showed a fall of Ss 6d since the last sale about a fortnight ago, buyers /offered more at the 'close. Other Australian issues continued weaker, Colonial Sugars and Punlop-Perdriaus being marked down.
