THE WAIKATO BOARD BUTTER REBATE WITHDRAWN ALTERATIONS AT ROTORUA [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Thursday The New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, Limited, wrote to the Waikato Hospital Board to-day, stating that as a result of the new regulations issued by Order-in-Council, the arrangements recently entered into, under which ft quantity rebate was allowed with respect to the price of butter supplied to the board, must lapse. The company stated that it had no' option but to increase the price. The chairman, Mr. J. J. Ryburn, said that the increased price as fixed by the Marketing Board, would equal Id per lb. or £69 per annum. On the motion of Mr. C. Macky, it was decided to ask the Minister of Health to endeavour to arrango for rebates to bo allowed to hospital boards for bulk purchases of butter.

Tho board decided to decline to contribute toward tho cost of the establishment and maintenance of a morgue at Morrinsville, tho opinion being expressed that tho proposed morgue was the responsibility of the Piako County Council and tho Morrinsville Borough Council. Advice was received that the Minister of Health had approved of the appointment of Dr. J. Ritchie, of Cambridge, to the position of medical officer in charge of the Rotorua Hospital. It was stated that Dr. Ritchie would take up the position, in a month's time, and that in the meantime the doctor's residence at Rotorua would be renovated. The Hospital Boards' Association wrote stating that the New Zealand Federation of Labour had agreed that hospital boards might be exempted from certain conditions of awards, more especially as to extra payment for work that might be required to bo done on Saturdays and Sundays. Recommendations were received from a special visiting coirwuittee that No. 3 hut at the Rotorua Hospital be converted into an isolation block, that the Inrge garage be moved and converted into living quarters for the male staff, and that the Red Cross hut be moved and converted into livine quarters for the assistant doctors.
